Blogging has gained popularity with the business community in the UK, especially since new updates in Google search algorithms which now favour social media, a category blogs fall into.
So, where to go to get a blog? There are quite a few platforms available, both hosted and self-hosted. (hosted=they do it, self hosted = you do it). Hosted platforms can be a good place to start as you can be confident your blog will not suffer from being hacked, if of course you choose one of the reputable platforms such as Blogger, Posterous or WordPress. There’s also Movable Type, Typepad and Squarespace, to name but a few.
In the UK the most popular blogging platforms seem to be Blogger, WordPress and Posterous. I favour WordPress, the most popular blogging platform of them all, which I think says it all. However, getting going with a blog is the main consideration, refining your choice can come further down the line once you’ve decided whether it’s for you.
